Wedding Belles
25 March 2006 Nick & Jeanne's lovely Spring wedding, Oundle.
Every girl dreams of being a bride. Saffron thinks she is a bride. As seen here, she promptly took control of the bouquet, veil, wrangled a lift in the bridal car and even stood herself firmly in the line-up to welcome guests to the wedding reception.
You'd think the obsession would have abated with time, but when Aunty Carlene recently and very kindly asked Saffron to be a flower girl at her wedding, Saffron paused to consider the proposition for a brief moment before graciously declining with a very non-negotiable "No, I want to be the bride."
So as any tough-loving mother seeking to rid her child of delusions of grandeur and to teach her that she can't always be the centre of attention would do, I've decided on a Wedding Theme for Saffron's 4th birthday party this year. She's going to be the real bride amidst a sea of confetti and white tulle. The idea is that it will be like a real wedding party, only without a groom, drunken speeches or distant relatives. In other words, a perfect wedding. Everyone's welcome, so long as you wear the veils provided.
